About the Event

"Embark on the journey of love. It takes you from yourself to yourself" - Rumi

Following on the heels of Valentine's Day, when a person expresses love for another, we're inviting you into the gallery for an evening of music and storytelling that recalls the journey to finding love within.

Come join us, and be inspired by Raquel Lindemann and Renee Barnes as they share their personal, creative journeys of persistence, overcoming obstacles, and recognizing and celebrating the joys in life, and the role that art has played all along the way.

Raquel Lindemann is a Texas-based singer-songwriter with tie-dyed roots. Her music has been described as “Absolutely beautiful...moving beyond words” and “Happiness & Joy.”  Affectionately known as “Hippie Songbird,” Raquel’s music blends folk-rock sensibilities with Texas harmonies and soulful storytelling. Couple that with a voice described by Scene In Town’s Mary Jane Farmer as “Rich, Full & Powerful,” and you can expect to see a performance bursting with light, color and emotion. Raquel’s music is featured in the independent film Ophelia Falls which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.  She has also been a finalist in the B.W. Stevenson Singer-Songwriter Contest and a semi-finalist in the Rusty Wier Singer-Songwriter Contest.  In addition to being a performing songwriter, Raquel is an accomplished music educator and has taught at Southern Methodist University, Dallas Independent School District, and she has worked with military veterans through the non-profit HCC.  Raquel leads an annual vocal workshop for Terri Hendrix’s OYOU non-profit, as well as assists Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines during the annual OYOU Music Camp.

Renee Barnes was an interior designer for over 35 years. She has also taught art in both private and public schools. Since her retirement from the interior design industry, she has actively pursued her artistic talents including writing and illustrating several books. She has been a guest speaker for several groups and organizations including libraries, schools, and hospitals. Children and seniors alike have benefitted from her stories that help to inspire their own creative ideas. During the 1990s, her business was exclusively in the family entertainment industry which allowed her an opportunity to explore a great part of the globe. Each facility had to be turn-key, and that included the creation and installation of very large murals. She gives credit to these projects for inspiring her decision to pursue writing books. Renee has five published books and is currently working on Book VI in her series entitled “Tales from the Evergreen.”
