Discover the magic of the "blue prints" in this 4 hour (plus a 30 min byo-lunch break) Cyanotype workshop!
Cyanotypes, also known as a blueprint, is a monochromatic print or image made by placing negatives, objects, or stencils on a piece of paper or fabric coated with a light sensitive material and placed in UV light to develop. The areas hit with direct UV light turn a brilliant cyan blue color whereas the areas blocked with exposure remain white. Cyanotypes are then washed in a simple mix of water and hydrogen peroxide.
During this workshop, you’ll master the entire cyanotype process—from preparing your own cyanotype paper to washing your creations in a simple water and hydrogen peroxide mix. Learn to make unique photograms and contact prints, experimenting with various materials and techniques. We’ll guide you through creating your own negatives using transparency paper and different drawing tools.
Bring your imagination and some small objects, photo negatives, leaves, or any other items you'd like to experiment with. This is your chance to explore the magical transformation of everyday objects into striking blue-and-white works of art. Don't miss this opportunity to dive into the world of cyanotype and create your own masterpieces!
Notes: Students are encouraged to wear clothes that they are okay having the potential of staining $90 for each workshop. Register here!
